Title: Sears J.C Higgins Reel?
Post by: redrydr77 on October 02, 2010, 04:11:37 AM
I came across a vintage JC Higgins and would like to rebuild it. Anyone know what is compatible? It looks similar to Penn LB 60 series or a 285 but not sure as Sears had these made by several reel makers over the years. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sears marketed several Penn reels -- the 60, 285 and 149 among them. All of them were identical to Penn reels except for the etched wording on the side plates. It it looks like a Long Beach 60, it probably is and you need 006 060 (Squidder) drag washers.
