Title: Latest upgrade on the 112H
Post by: Alto Mare on December 09, 2014, 10:56:58 PM
Today I put the new latest 4:1 gears in the 112H and as I expected everything is working perfectly
We've been getting lots of new members here lately, so I'll mention the double dog, just in case.
If any of you would like to install a second dog in this reel, what works best for me is to install a pin and use a coiled spring as the jigmaster

and here is a pic of both dogs

I did not have the kit from Bryan, so I decided to use one of Lee's insert
(http://i.imgur.com/HQw1eDm.jpg)
cutting these washers with scissors takes less than 10 seconds on each
(http://i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g431/pescatore1/DSC_0026-2.jpg) (http://s1101.photobucket.com/user/pescatore1/media/DSC_0026-2.jpg.html)
I used .50mm metal keyed washers ( the stock 7-60 washers fit perfectly, you might need to get thinner carbon fiber washers if you use those) I used 1.10mm carbon fiber washers and as you could see, a perfect fit.
and of course a delrin under the gear and one on top. On this one I had to use the 12.50mm spacer  to make it work.
Use the "O" ring when assembling this reel if you have the two dogs, it will make it much easier

This reel gave the same results as the jigmaster, the stardidn't give as much travel as the jigmaster, but that's because of the thicker custom stainless steel star.

Dom, you will like it, the new gears work great in this reel.

I'll dig around and see if I can come up with materials.  I have enough 113H and 114H ones "ordered" so it's something that needs to be done.

Sal, what are you using for a pin? And how are you securing it to the side plate?

Eric, I used a pin from the gear sleeve . Drill the correct size hole, about 1/8" deep and use some epoxy to set it in.

You did good with three sets. I'm hoping these will generate lots of interest so Alan will change his mind.
This is a good thing.

Nice job Sal. It looks narrowed, which makes it look like a red sided high speed 2/0, which we know penn never made. I'll take 5 please !!!

Sal,

Unfortunately, there is just not a big demand on this 4:1 SS gear set. I don't think it will happen. I am sorry....

Alex, there are 3 CF washers in the gear.  Keta made two different adapters one in hexagon & one in octagon. The hexagon has more support for the CF washer edges but uses slightly smaller metal washers. I think I used the metals out of a 650-750 Spinfisher.              Rudy

not a single problem amigo, if I recall correctly I asked that just to know how many HT-100 drag washers I had to order for the adapters I just ordered from Lee, but I ordered a bunch for both reels, just to play on the safe side and keep some as spare.
