does anyone use these reels? are they dependable for tournament winning mako's?

I personally would not go with a graphite frame for anything higher than 30# class...especially for Makos.  Other than that, they are nice beefy graphite reels.

MysticParts lists the GLD 50 at 27lb max drag.  A little optimistic?  Graphite frame failures were discussed elsewhere on this forum, and a Shimano TLD 50 frame broke at around 27lbs.  Read the following link: http://alantani.com/index.php?topic=3278.msg21996#msg21996
