Title: Penn 113H2 Issue
Post by: Boatzilla on January 02, 2015, 05:52:36 PM
Hello Alan,
I am trying to solve a problem I am having with the Penn 113H2 reel.
I manufacture, repair and sell the Precision Auto Reel drive system and the Penn 113H US version was very popular.
When Penn changed to a male thread on the bridge sleeve, I immediately started having issues with my drive system shearing off this male thread.
Failure rate was approximately 60-70%.
I stopped offering the 113H2 reel due to this issue.
Do you know of anyone offering a replacement sleeve in stainless steel that would fit this application?

The 114H2 and 114L2 experience this issue at a much lower rate, about a 3% level of occurrence.

I have not experienced any failures with the 115L2 and the Precision drive system.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Dave

dave, having a gear sleeve made for the h2 is certainly a possibility, but will a gear sleeve from the old 113h fit? such a fix would involve more work but would utilize parts already available.
