Title: grease and oil
Post by: scottj on January 08, 2015, 03:51:35 PM
Wondering what grease you guys think is better reelX or CorrosionX is one better than the other or is there something that may be better than both. Aslo as far as oil thoughts on Synthetic Oils as opposed to regular oils. I'm going to break down a few reels and lube and oil change drag washers. Look forward to any comments thanks in advance.

Hi Scott.

ReelX is a thinner version of CorrosionX, and doesn't last as long.  A few of us have switched to TSI321 because of the metal bonding properties.  As far as other synthetic oils, if they are resistant to corrosion and the elements that your reels will be subjected to, it should be fine, but would require some type of testing.

Good luck,
Bryan

ReelX/CorrosionX are't grease, they're oil replacements for bearings. I'm another one who has switched to TSI321 but I still use ReelX on some of my stuff.
