While blustery snow conditions are in the works for NE US - Philly to New England,  we here in San Mateo are looking at 70+ degrees over the weekend AND I know how much you all enjoy the open Hawaiian Shirts Dominick enjoys displaying,

I'm thinking about traveling to his home this weekend, Camera in hand, and snap a few shots for all you to enjoy 8) 8)

Or PayPal me some $$$ and I'll stay home!

I sit here all day in GYM Shorts no shirt. I do reel repairs dressed like this so my clothes stay clean. If your lucky you might find a few Gray Hairs in your reel as a bonus. So the open shirt is ok. No I don't do pictures.

Down here in SE Florida all we have to shovel is lots of sunshine. I think it's supposed to be the usual 78-80 degrees tomorrow.

Yeah, they said 4" to 8" tonight through tomorrow. That ain't so bad. We really have been fairly dry so far this season. Some people up north had a load of ice. We missed most of that. Been fairly cold though. So much so Dominic in a Hawaiian shirt might be worth the 70 deg. And sunshine. ::) :D

Mike,
That is a little too much information brother! :o
Rowdy, shovel some of that sunshine my way! It got up to 37 degrees in my neck of the woods today and that is good enough.
Home is where my family is. ;)

I received some smoked salmon from Ted, along with some other goodies. That salmon is to die for, great job Ted ;).
Today was my neighbor 82nd birthday, so I decided to bring him one of the package, Ted sent enough for an army.
When he answered the door, he was in his underwear, I couldn't eat all night ::).
So Mike, Dominick and some other old farts here, Please, keep your clothes on ;D.

Gonna be ugly here in Dallas, too.  It is supposed to get down to 40 tonight.  High is only predicted to be 61 tomorrow.  I have the fireplace blazing away.  I may not turn it off until it hits 70 on Monday.

2"-6" and I shovel, any more and the ATV mounted blade makes it quick and easy.  Our snow is usually light and "dry" but turns to ice when it's walked or driven on so I like to move it several times during the storms.  Fortunately I have a deep drainage ditch to shove the accumulated snow into.

If we don't get snow here and in the mountains it will be worse this year, good thing the wife got rid of the last of her pasture maggots.

Just came in my self. Me and the Wife finished plowing and cleaning up vehicles. Not much snow to mention maybe 3" of the whit stuff, but heavy as heck. No shoveling the driveway here when it's 250' and 15' wide.

Have a friend down the road who plows for a living, he keeps me busy fixing his equipment when it breaks or needs welding. He called this morning to tell me we need to fix his bumper after he backed into a block wall. :o I didn't ask how I was laughing to much ;D.

With a wonderfully sunny day temps are just at 70 degrees here in San Mateo, I decided to wash & wax my car, now finished I'm sitting on my back deck catching up on some fishing material & enjoying a gin & tonic with the backdrop of the city of San Mateo in the foreground, Mt. Diablo in the far right, city of Oakland in just to the left of center & San Francisco to the far left if I could trim some trees!!!  Beautiful day here in Sunny California!!!!

Comes with the territory, like droughts out here!  I've shoveled my share in Chicago, Denver and Connecticut. CT was the worst... Big corner lot. Sometimes the neighbors took pity and brought their snowblower over to help out.

Really? If you live in the Northeast you have to expect it, it really does come with the territory. We had drifts up to the roof in Chicago. We had snow in Cincinnati but not that much. We had plenty of snow in Denver, I remember the neighbors racing snow mobiles up and down the street. I remember an ice storm on top of 1' of snow in CT (Hartford) back in the winter of '72? that had us without power for 5 days. I haven't seen that kind of snow in SoCal except up in the local mountains after a big storm. I've become a wimp and like it out here where we only have spring, summer and fall.

Yeah two years ago they cancelled Halloween. We got over two feet of the white stuff. I don't mind a load of snow IF it gets warm on the backside of the storm. Doesn't look like that's going to happen on this one though. I'm just hope it's not one of those years where we get a weekly storm. Last time that happen I just plain wore out the tires on my snow blower.lol :o

Anyone remember Buffalo NY this winter 48" or more of snow in one shot. Good to here that there are some concerned about us in the NE but as stated, it comes with the territory...we do prepare for such weather.

We have equipment to plow snow, a generator in case the power is down. In our case plenty of wood for the fire place/Heatalator. This is not unusual for us every few years or so. Personally I don't know why people make such a big deal of it,maybe because the media is so hyped up.

When we were hit with Sandy a few years back, that was out of the ordinary and did some devastating damage to the shore and inland. We did survive however and I am thankful for that.

What I don't find amusing is when people think it's funny because they are in, what they conceive as a better geographic area. Then those of us in the NE. We all have to deal with weather in one way or the other. So get over it. And move on. ;)

Sounds like the folks out east of us here in NE nj are gonna get worse than us. Not always like that but I'm ok with it. Less time on the back end of the snow blower. My only concern is loss of power. Especially with frigid temps on the heels of this front.
Reel224, I agree. No better place in the world to live. Close to world class beaches, fishing,NYC. The only knock I have about this area is the cost of living. Other than that we got it pretty good.

Easy there Reel224, you're right about the media, that's their way of stimulating the economy ::), but don't depend on your equipment, mother nature is the boss and i never forget it.
Most of us are not worried about food or anything like that, if there need to be, there could always be a squirrel roasting on my fire. ;)  ;D There is always a way.
Being in construction for over 40 years, I worry more about roofs caving in, this is a serious threat. Drifting snow could do a good job at that.
Lets hope we'll all be safe. ;)
My daughter is in Boston, they're expecting over 3', that's what I worry about the most.

Hang in there guys, go work on some reels and get your mind off of it.
We will all be ok.

Just came in for a breather. Cleared everything out of the way for pushing snow. Have the chains on the machine and plow Pamed. Got plenty of petrel for the equipment. Hot cup of Joe and I'm ready to go.

Okay Sal Ill take your advice under advisement. I also worked in construction for better then 40 years most of that as a pipe liner/welder. Here we help each other out with what ever needs to be done.

Sal: I hope your Daughter is safe and sound threw this also. I have three children and although they are all in there 40s I worry about them every day.

Woke up this morning to about 5" of light fluffy snow, the snow is still falling at a moderate rate with light northerly winds. So far it looks like we have escaped the bullet,if so I'm thankful for that. The national weather station has made some changes to our area as far as accumulations are concerned,so far it looks like 8"to 12". Stay safe everyone and I hope we all miss the brunt of this. Oh yes and it's 21deg here in Monmouth Co. NJ

Not a pretty site surfcaster. I can remember a few like that last winter. Stay safe and warm for now. I know what you have to do soon to get going.Maybe you will get some help to clear your driveway. I know if you were near us we would be out there helping. I always call my friends to see how they are doing. Tomorrow we are taking one of our lady friends to her heart Doctor for her regular checkup.

This time of year is really hard on the elderly. If anyone of you guys know people that are alone or older, please give them a call to make sure they are warm and safe.

Hey Crew,
I'm alive and well... thanks to mother nature for sparing my island (Manhattan) we're almost done plowing out the parking lots.  I got stopped by a cop on my way in this morning (5AM), but he gave me a break because I was going to work. The travel ban is now lifted and the trains are running (slowly but running).  You guys/gals stay safe out there and check in on your elderly neighbors.  We plowed out six crosswalks so people can cross the street without breaking their butts because Sanitation plows like to load up the snow in crosswalks for some reason. ???
Stay warm and safe,
Dom
PS- Dominick, you know me well ;)

Yes we dodged the bullet this time. Only around 4" to 5". That's ok with me! To all others north of us...be safe and take care.
Bob
Same here, we got around 4", everything is now back and running. Boston is getting pounded, I told my daughter to send some pictures. We went over some of the survivor skills that  I thought her during the years.
Dominick checked in on me last night and gave me a good tip about making sandwiches ahead of time and for me to start the car and shove the sandwiches in the muffles, so I would die of carbon monoxide poisoning and won't have to suffer due to too much snow...just kidding ;D, he did say to warm the sandwiches on the muffler not in the muffler ;D. Good tip Dominic ;).

Warm the sandwiches on the Muffler? :D
I was watching the weather channel last night and it was showing the gusts up to 60 mph in Mass. Wow!

I think Dominic was into some Zin. Sal you can always warm the sandwiches right next to that squirrel you'll be cooking ;D

Dominick is actually right, we used to warm our sadwiches on the muffler of the cement mixer, during the cold months, it works like a charm ;)

Everything is cleared in the yard, started at 11:00 and finished by 12:30. Me and my wife went to check on one of the elderly friends we have, who is doing just fine.

Heating sandwiches on manifolds brings me back to cooking with our HaBatchi on the back of our welding truck. If we used our Lincoln Welder manifold,we would wrap the food in Tinfoil. Lots of good times in those days.

I remember the paving crews cooking quartered chickens in the hot asphalt on the paving machines & tandem dump trucks. If you want your bread toasted put it on the catalitic converter.

Cold is the real problem for sure, it's 16° here not as cold as you are BMITCH, but I'm not trying to out do ya either. This is workbench weather for sure. Have an old single shotgun stock that I have to finish checkering and today is a good day for it.
