Title: Freespool Problem
Post by: Capt. Bob Pastor on March 01, 2015, 01:37:36 PM
Greetings All,

Just finished my first rebuild. SS gears, sleeve, dog, CF drag. Everything went back together the way it should and the reel works great, except for one major problem. The eccentric jack doesn't engage the pinion gear. If I take the reel apart and hold the gear down, the jack engages. If I don't hold it down, the jack just pushes the pinion to the side. Please help.

Thanks.

I took the reel apart again and here's what seemes to be happening. Instead of pushing the yoke down, the two tabs on the eccentric jack are pushing against the yoke.

Bob, get some fine sandpaper or file and knock off the edge on those tabs a little, do the same to the yoke, where it makes contact.

I buffed both with 600 grit and now she's smooth as silk. Thanks. Time for the other two.
