Title: STRADIC CI4 HANDLE "KNOB" REMOVAL
Post by: LAHossman on March 20, 2015, 04:27:40 PM
Do any of the repair gurus know how to remove the knob from the handle on Sradic CI4 for servicing. I don't want to
booger up the handle by doing something wrong. From the schematic, it looks like it screws off, but how?

I think that knob has a cap that has to be pried out (friction and little glue holding it in).  Then in the cap, there is a screw to take the knob off.

Look at the base of the knob near the handle, you will see four flats. Slide the red collar up the knob, compressing the foam knob and you can sqeeze an open ended spanner in there to hold it.  Then you need to turn off the endcap with something  without scratching the anodizing. Normal RH thread.

The earlier F series red cap is held in with friction as Bryan mentioned and the later FA series has a screw off red cap.

Some of the red caps without a screwdriver slot are still screw in however need something grippy to screw them out. A rubber tipped glove or that non slip matting makes a great medium.

I apply a little Inox MX6 to the thread and to the rubber O Ring to condition it. Have seen a few that have perished a little.
