Title: Beast Master 80
Post by: wildcard on March 22, 2015, 07:35:34 PM
I have a old Beast Master 80 that I  would love to put to work. I understand that many parts are no longer available. I got the reel a few years back, had it serviced by a local fella, but it's never worked correctly. Looking for someone that may have some knowledge and interest in taking a look at it. Thanks

You should consider sending it to Glen in San Diego, do a search of the Shimano section for BeastMaster and you should find his contact info.  Otherwise, there are threads detailing how to seevice this reel.  You can buy a carbonfiber washer(from Dawn at Smoothdrag), and punch/drill the 4 center holes, to replace the canvas drag washer, replace any worn bearings with stock Shimano ARB, and do a full dissasembly/relube yourself, if you can follow the turorals available here.

Sounds like there may be some hope after all. I seem to remember a "tightlines" that was a Penn man, from years back.

Take a look through the tutorals and see if its something you think you want to do yourself.  If so, call shimano and order up some new bearings, call Dawn and get a carbon fiber drag washer, and some cal's grease, and crack her open.  We are here to help uf you run into any troubles or questions.
