Title: 500s question that I haven't seen!
Post by: WalterWyman on March 28, 2015, 10:09:12 PM
I have a 500s and it is doing strange things. When in free spool if the handle is up or on top, no sound good free spool. If you turn the reel over so handle is down you get a knocking sound. I think what is happening is the spool is clicking on the pinion gear. Thinking that the reel is a frankenstine and there is a problem or the person has a wrong pinion gear or the spool is just worn out? I am open to suggestions!

Thanks for you experience,

Walter

Hey thanks to all the guys that read this as I was in the shower I had a thought, change the handle side bearing screw and bang it's gone I guess the inside is wore out and gave to much play. I am going to polish the end of the spool shaft just for good measure!

Thanks
Walter
