Title: Adding IAR bearing to an older 5500C3 with mechanical anti reverse pawls

Can this be done by replacing the sideplate and few parts?  Has anyone tried this?  Just wondering if the parts are interchangeable.  I thought all C3's had IAR.  Turns out the older ones don't.  I noticed the collar of the handle shaft is larger on the newer reels with IAR.

Yes it can be done. In fact I have some that have both dogs and IAR bearings.
