Title: Older Accurate 197 freespool
Post by: Ballyhoo on May 17, 2015, 06:33:14 PM
i have two older Accurate 197s, serial numbers, 9118 & 5173, both with cast control.  I always have the cast control backed all the way off.  The reels have always been serviced by Accurate.  The free spool isn't that great.   What can be done by a reel repair professional to improve the free spool?

Alan or someone will have to chime in for full details but I believe the older Accurates didn't have "spool sleeves" like most newer models have (from all manufacturers) so one would have to be cut for the Boss 197. After that the spool bearings would be opened up and lubed with TSI 321 and you should have outstanding free spool.
