Hi,
I have a Daiwa Spinning reel that I am looking to "pre service". Even though I have already used a few times I never really preserviced it because I didn't feel it was necessary and spinning reels are very complicated :(
after a rough boat ride out a lot of my reels got saltwater spray a lot of it. I found some Salt underneath the spool but the main gearing looks very protected. I was wondering which areas you would apply Yamaha Boat grease too and which areas need Corrison X etc in the spool and handle.

Take a look at any of the spinning reel tutorials (even for other than Daiwa reels) and all of the basic principals as to what lube and where are covered.
Will do I thought this sites tutorials was just conventional reels? That is all I have seen.
I have one specific and peculiar problem I just noticed. I am not sure if it is anything serious but my reel spool makes a squeaky noise when oscillating forwards toward the shaft. I made a short video. Can anyone figure out the cause?
I have disassembled the spool from spool shaft and cleaned out all of it but it continues making this weird "squeak".

It's a bearing or bushing I'm not completely familiar with how that reel is set up. First is the rotor snug?
You can locate the offending area by systematically using oil on different contact areas until it stops.

I tested the spool on another identical reel and it made no noise so it has to be the reel itself. I am pretty sure the rotor is snug.Is there anyway I can check for this?
The reel was fine when catching fish. I just noticed this afterwards.
Is which part a bearing or bushing? I believe there is not a bearing on the spool.

I had clicked on the Daiwas subforum and only found conventionals.
I read your post with out giving your reel much of a glance. That's a pretty well respected reel within its range that you have. My uncle who lives outside of Anchorage has 2 of them & really likes them

Thanks I love them too. I actually Fixed it thanks to the help of LeoNyC. It turns out the oscillating thing just need some grease!
