Title: first time taking a Trinidad spool bearing out
Post by: steelfish on July 08, 2015, 06:18:05 PM
so, Guys, I have one of my friends with a bad spool bearing on his Trinidad 30 gold.

I dont have the Boca pliers and Aaron of reelspeed has ran out of his pliers and working on a next batch but not ready yet.

I have seen a lot of custom made pliers for this job, but I still hesitate on which are the best kind to make a channel with the dremel and try it out.
trinidad spools can be very expensive to make a mistake so, what do you guys recommend?

any model prefered to make a custom spool bearing plier?
also, if the pin get damaged in the process what do you use as alternative for it? I havent found those pins available separately

Just cut a groove in the vise grip pliers like Alan Tani shows. It works great until you get some pin pliers. Check with Dawn at Smooth Drag. She should have some. The bearing will slide right off.
