Post by: Cowbass on January 03, 2011, 03:18:32 AM
Hey guys... Is there a formula to figure out how much line a reel will hold? Every reel gives mono specs and I'm gonna be fishing either 60 or 80 lb jb hollow... How can I convert mono to jb?? Thanks

Here's another one that might help. This excel spreadsheet [.xls] will get you close with the biggest variables being the reel manufacturer's data and how well the line is spooled on. It also calculates top shots. You can enter any line diameter in decimal inches.

The program is called "Fishing Line Estimator" and is in the right hand column under External Links.

Good luck!
