Post by: AFTroller on August 05, 2015, 02:08:09 PM
I got a set of eight used 47Hs in dire need of drag work. What do I need?

Newbie here, so bear with me!

smoothdrag makes a drag set for this reel.  http://smoothdrag.com/price.html  get the drag sets, some cal's grease and any bearings that you need (gotta pull the reels apart and look for bad bearings first :-\).

Dave , I responded in the for sale thread too.

I just did my last 47h the other day.  I have two sets of originals you can have if you let me know the address. If I can find them, you can have the third set too.

I replaced mine with Dawns #12 SmoothDrags. You need six for each reel because you have to double them up for two reasons.

One, the replacement #12's are thinner by half, so you have to put two in place of each one original disc, to maintain the over all drag stack height.
Two, there is a ridge in the bottom of the main gear that you need to clear by doubling the drags.

Install two #12, keyed washer, two #12, eared washer, two#12, metal washer, two tension springs, then the spacer.  She also sells the Cal's grease. And she ships faster than anyone I've dealt with.

Good luck. Need help, you are covered here for sure. :D
