Title: Carbontex drag washer size for Mitchell 600/602/620/622/624
Post by: spoolin01 on August 05, 2015, 07:40:40 PM
I plan to replace the drag washers in a Mitchell 622, but haven't opened it up yet.  I found a UK site offering a carbontex kit for these reels, but don't see it listed at smoothdrag.com.  I saw on another post here that perhaps the Penn Squidder washers would work.

Can anyone confirm that Squidder washers will work, or know the washer size or any cross-reference for these reels?  I've found two Mitchell schematics that show slightly different drag stacks, in one case the lowest washer is the same as the one under the gear, in another it matches the others up top.  I don't know which if either this one matches, but I figures since I'm putting in an order, I'd go with the current best guess as to which ones to get.

The ones I have seen use the Penn 6-60 which is used on many Penn reels. It is the same size for the Penn 704/706, 750SS and so on in Carbontex that Dawn has at Smooth Drag.

If you post the main gear inside dimensions I would know for sure.
