Title: Another fine day off the central coast
Post by: David Hall on August 09, 2015, 05:33:20 PM
One of the workmen finishing up a project is down from Vancouver BC.  He's away from home and family and since we spent some time talking fishing so, I invited him out yesterday from Moss Landing.  We ran south of Carmel bay far enough to clear the MLPA and looked for a likely spot to try for some long cod.  Didn't take us long to drift over a stretch that was loaded.  Every drop another lung, we shook off 15-20 and kept limits of keepers, nothing huge 26-30 inches.  Lots of big blues one nice vermillion rounded out our limits.  It was flat calm no wind, small swell, we were Abel to get in close on the rocks and drift in shallow waters.
One visitor snuck up and checked us out before slowly cruising off.  A 300+ lb. MOla Mola.

Very cool, all the time I spent on the water in SoCal and I never saw one.
