Title: Penn 965 vs Shimano 400te
Post by: Rancanfish on August 15, 2015, 05:03:54 PM
Ok the title says it all.  I have both that I used for rockfishing.

My question is; Which reel is better designed, more durable and the one to keep?  Upgraded drags, better ARB, more corrosion proof?  See where I'm going?

Opinions are perfectly acceptable.   ;D

The Shimano is a very fine reel but the parts won't be available so if your keeping just one keep the Penn..!

I have a few old Shimanos 1980- 1990. I have been able to buy parts reels for them quite cheaply.
I have a 200te Calcutta. I like the TE models. I don`t know much about the Penn.
I do have a few older Penns too that I have parts reels for.
