Hi guys, my name David and I recently joined the forum.  I have learned how to take apart my reels by reading many post on this site and I finally decided to join this forum.  I grown up here in California and have been fishing half of life.  Hopefully I could help out here as this forum has helped me.  Thank you and glad to be a part of this forum.

I am not sure I can post this message on this thread but, I have a Penn 113H with both Accurate frame and sideplates and I would like to upgrade the reel with stainless steel gears, Bryan Young's drag kit, double dog, SS yoke, and have the reel serviced.  I was wondering if anyone would like to trade two 4/0 Accurate narrow frame for the upgrade on my 113H?  The two 4/0 Accurate narrow frames that I have are in red and gold.  Sorry I do not have narrow spools for them.  Thank you for your help!

Welcome David.

Good luck in finding someone to help you out.  I don't think I would want to chance double dogging an accurate sideplate.

Would it be too hard to install the double dog or is it not worth installing them?  I had the dog fail on me more than once while I was fishing, and when I took the reel apart, the spring that pushes the dog falls out of place.  I am not sure how to fix this problem.  Also,  I had this reel for over 13 years and I would like to upgrade it.  I have read posts after posts on this forum on what to upgrade on the 4/0. I need an opinion from the pros and see what you guys would do.  Thank you!

Hi Dave, no the double dog upgrade is not hard to do if you use Black Pearl's custom bridge and it is very much worth it.
Those are in progress, but still not available to us, I'm not sure when they will get here.
I have one, but mine is needed for testing, here is  what they look like:

These when done will be so easy to install, you could do it blindfolded.
As for other upgrades, there are a few here, just look around.
Alan Tani has some nice handle knobs and stainless steel sleeves, Black Pearl has stainless steel gears and more, Bryan Young has the 7+1 drag kit, Three se7ens has some nice stainless steel handles, some have my name ;D, he also offers inserts that really increase drag numbers, Keta (Lee) also has inserts and drag kits.

As you can see, there are many options here, just read a little and make your decision.
Our boss Alan will usually just recommend a stainless steel gear sleeve and fresh set of carbon fiber washers...if needed. The reel will do just fine.
Alan doesn't want members to spend too much money on upgrades.

If money is no object, I would go all the way on these reels.

Thanks Sal!  I have recently purchased the stainless steel sleeves from Alan and it should be coming this week.  I will take your advice and wait for the new bridge to come out and save for the other upgrade. Thank you again Sal for your advice!
