Title: Exotic bearings marketed by Hedgehog Studio
Post by: exp2000 on September 07, 2015, 01:49:11 AM
I was browsing another forum and the guys were singing the praises of some exotic bearings marketed by Hedgehog Studio:

I am currently using EZO bearings as spool replacements and I find these to be outstanding, even amongst Japanese bearings.

Has anyone tried these Hedgehog bearings and what is your experience?

I've used Hedgehog, and have had no complaints yet, I've only been using them for a few months and have purchased the Air BFS, ZR, and Air's. I don't have all sets installed yet, only the ZR, and Air BFS. I have noticed a difference from stock bearings these were replaced with and have tested free spin times with other manufacturers bearings of the same spec and have noticed greater spin times in the Hedgehog compared to others. I have also not had any defective bearings where I have had defective bearings by other distributers.

I've not tried, or heard of the EZO bearings.

Been using the HEDGEHOG AIR bearings for about a year now, and have had no issues with any of them. I only fish fresh water, so have them oiled lightly with their Alchemy Oil. They spin exceptionally well, straight out of the packet. Casts are a little longer, but the ease of casting is the most impressive aspect of these bearings.

These are the best bearings I have ever used. Tried them all from ABEC 3, ABEC 5 and ABEC 7 to Ceramic, and all the stuff in between. They are also easy to maintain with one side open that I place on the top side for easy access. I would not say that they are ideal for everyone, unless you are prepared to regularly maintain them.

Worth the price, even when I have to pay shipping and 65% import duties plus 15% tax !!
