I was wondering if anyone out there had a chance to compare the Old (orig) versions of the Daiwa Lexa 400 -vs- the New ones out. The New ones are priced $50 higher than the Old ones, what is better about them? I know from tearing down the Old ones there were some plastic parts, but they do not appear to be "major load bearing" when fighting a fish and have never worn on my reels. Thank you for looking and I cant wait to hear, or see the $50 upgrade/difference.
Gary,
Im not familiar with either reel and was "kinda" wondering myself. I dont know if the schematics are available on Daiwa's website for the new model, however careful inspection of the schematics may reveal some mechanical or design differences. The other thing is what materials the individual parts are made of will not be reflected in the schematics. Hopefully someone will chime in with some first-hand experience.

It's the same reel with 2 more bearings and the stainless Main and Pinon.
That easily explains the $50 up charge. All of the plastic parts are better that way due to the type of duty they do.
Unfortunately Daiwa seems to charge way more than anyone for parts so dropping them in might cost significantly more than $50.
