i managed to get out last monday after months of no fishing.
calm seas, light wind on the back to&from the new grounds we fished.

max growth is 90cm.very distinct white chin, loverly to eat,
1st 1 or 2 minutes is a real challenge,as they try to brick you.
this one is my pb.it was a good day with about 10 different species caught between clever trevor and myself
cheers
Way to go Wallace :)
Nice one. The name of the fish seems to be misleading though as it looks more like a Wrasse than a Grouper. Either way, it is a nice one.
Congratulations on your personal best.
Thanks for the photo, interesting fish.

It looks like our Black Fish or Tautog. We call the bigger ones White Chins. These are in the Wrasse family.

baldchin is in fact part of the wrasse family, also known as a baldchin tuskfish.
he is a large male, live for 50years,females are small,3or4yrs then change sex.
had to look that up.
hi dom,liz said "keep it simple when you cook fish"

So did the fish do its namesake to you? ;)
kinda 3x7,s
i went from aussie he-man to
full time employment in a harem :D :D :D
Wally,
You are a funny guy. ;D
Keep'em coming buddy. I miss you around here.
Congrats on that bald chin groper. :-X
On the way to Rotto or towards the fads?
Looks like a cousin to the Hawaiian "nabeta"/peacock wrasse, also a highly desired species. Congratulations!
hi higgy
sth/west of rotto in 37m,s
i dont have the co-ords its my mates boat sry.
I moved back to the states in 2000. Helped set the fads for 5 years and worked R100 for about the same.
Really miss that area was there for 8 years then 2 in port hedland, good fishing and great mud crabs, crappy for women.
lol
When I retire I plan to head to Kalbarri
hi higgy fads are due to go back in this week
kalbarri is great fishing. couple of years back it rained inland.
the flood waters hit kalbarri 2 weeks later, the
fishing tournement was call off. we just had to turn around and go back home
the flies are very friendly there. :D
cheers
I fished all over the west, and I really loved it. My fav was shark bay, but the trench was just as magic. Fished the WA open for quite a few years as well.
One of my best eatin places was the overseas noodle house, is it still going?
Sheephead=good!
Great job on the fish.
