Hi everyone. I thought I'd do a fast post on our fishing down in Los Cabos. 10/16/2015. I fished with Larry Haynes who I met over the internet on BD Outdoors. Larry is fishing the Bisbee LCO and he invited me to fish with him the day before the tournament. Larry had a water temp page that showed cooler water out the Pacific side of Cabo San Lucas. The boat Larry charted is the El Nuevo owned by Redrum Sport Fishing. We went out to the area around Jaime Banks. The water was very mixed and we could not move around in the boat without holding on to something. It seemed that the entire armada of fishing boats had the same idea. We trolled the area and Larry hooked and landed a small tuna around 15lbs. At one point we spotted some big Tuna feeding and creating a big feeding boil. Bam I got a hookup and it was a very big Tuna. After fighting it for about a half hour (The Tank held its own) the fish threw the hook. I got the rod again on another big Tuna. The fish hit on one of the boat's rod which had a Shimano reel on it ( I did not take note of the model). I had to fight that fish from the chair it was so strong. The day was an extremely hot 90 degree day. The heat was sapping my strength but I brought the fish to color when a shark hit the tuna and started to take line again. I upped the drag and got the fish to color again when the shark bit off the line. Here are a couple of photos without fish. I'll post some photos of the fish we caught the next day on the 17th later in this post.

More to come.
Wow cant beat fishing like that. Something else I have never done.............yet.
Looks like a blast!
That is one of the better fishing holes out there, and it looks to me like you are out with a real 'class act' operation.
Keep up the good work, and keep us posted!
Go Get'em! Dominick! ;D
Sounds like you're doing great, can't wait for the full report.
Way to go, Dominck! Looking forward to more.
Great report an pictures Dominick. I love that part of the world. So much life on the ocean there, lots of excitement. You never know what's gonna hit next!
Sharks can be a problem at times for sure.

Awesome!!!! I see The Tank!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Living the dream there Dominick. Keep pumping those arms up.
Dominick, just don't try to adjust the left bearing cap. ;D ;D
As promised here is the next days report. I just got the photos from Adam's camera. I picked up Dave Babcock at his hotel at 6:00 a.m. He was up and raring to fish. We left the dock at 6:45 bought bait from the bait boats and traveled northeast out of San Jose del Cabo toward East Cape. Fished an area called inner Punta Gorda. No Luck. We chummed with squid chunks for about a half hour then moved further out toward inner Gordo Banks. More chumming and produced one Bonita which we used to chum some more. It was very hot and humid (unusual for this time of year). Dave hooked into a very nice Tuna about 45lbs and he brought it to gaff expediently. Good job Dave.
Here we are starting out. I'm eating an energy bar and Dave is showing his butt. You can see the humidity on the lens.

Really decent sized Triggers. Plenty of other boats around, too. Beautiful Tunas. Encore!
Very nice Dominick, Cabo is a special place.
Dominick,
Please ask Dave about his Clarkbait fighting belt. LOVE the metal receiver and the wide padded belt.
Much better concept than the Braid Product belt I use in Cabo.
Travel safe.

Dominick, nice report pal. I was really enjoying it until I got to the part with you being shirtless, that's when everything went blurry ;D.
Oh well...it is what it is ::).
Living the dream Dominick, way to go!

Dave, please let us know how you found this and why you like it!!!!

Way to Go Dominick! Why would someone take a picture of you with some guy's wet butt right next to you? :D
I agree with Sal, get your shirt on!
Great Pictures besides those. ;)

You ought to be thankful I eliminated the Speedos. I didn't fish yesterday although I wanted to but the boats I care to fish with were all booked. I met the boats arriving in the afternoon and the boat I would have gone out on got skunked. I say adios to Los Cabos today. Too bad I could get used to this. Dominick

I'm not touching that one. :-*
me, either. great report! ;D
That was the first time I used the Charkbait belt. It worked well. Very comfortable. Easy to put on in a hurry. The cup is limited to rod butts up to about 1.5 inchs wide. All my rods fit. The one I caught the YFT on just fit in the cup About 3/8", but it stayed in place during the fight. That rod is a Seeker 12 to 25 lbs x 7ft Stealth with a rubber butt. Toms Jigmaster frame and parts worked great. That reel has already put three YFT on the deck totaling 100+ lbs since building it. That reel is not getting to set on display, even though it is pretty! It has a Newell aluminum spool, 4to1 BP gears(thanks Bryan), 5+1 stack from Bryan, BP bridge, and an Accurate handle from Randy at Vintage offshore. I want to thank everyone for their products and advice. I want to thank Dominic for inviting me. It was a fun day. I am planning on doing it again next year.
Dave Babcock
Nice trip & pics.
I'm really starting to think I should forego buying any guns-n-ammo for a year, and get my butt down to Baja or on a long range out of SoCal.
I almost forgot the MOST IMPORTANT PART OF THE TRIP, I GOT TO TOUCH THE TANK!!
Dave Babcock
Great report Dominick - thanks for taking us along!
Cheers mate, Justin
As always, Dominck, very captivating and cool. I, unlike the other jealous fellows around here would rather you have no shirt on than Doc and Gopher's shirts on (AKA Hawaii 5-O shirts).
No matter where you go you always look like your having fun and living life. In one photo you actually look like a lawyer fishing with the white shirt and specs. Sorry you didn't take that tank for a spin on one of those large tuna, but we know it'll happen soon. Btw, I told you that Joe catches all the fish. :-*
Thanks for the posting,
Dom
Dom, when Joe and I fish together we are each other's mojo. There also is a friendly competition between us. He called me this morning and wants to go down next month. My wife is having surgery next week and it depends on how well she is getting along post surgery whether we will go or not. If we do, there is a Wahoo tournament on the 15th that we might fish. Dominick
Great pics Dom.
The way things are going at work I may have a lot of free time on my hands soon.
I would love to get south to Los Cabos......

Thanks. If you want to join us tentative dates are June 8-15, 2016. Good moon phase also. If you decide to go just book your flight, I'll take care of booking the rest of the accommodations and boats. You can plan on 3 days of fishing at a cost of approximately $450 for the 3 days. Dominick
Hey Thanks for the invite Dom.
I will check with my social coordinator ( Miss Mari) tonight when I get home.
She owes me a couple as we leave for the NY marathon next week.
At 53 she qualified on time for this years race so we will be in the Big Apple for Halloween and the big race.
By the way is Wayne going?

By the way is Wayne going?
theswimmer, not for June 2016. My wife and I will be there in mid Jan. 2016 with my lifetime friend, Jerry and his spouse. We will fish 2 days during that week,
BUT I turn age 60 in 2016, and Jerry & my two sons, want all of us to do an EPIC Dad's turning 60 (as is Jerry as well) WILD & REMOTE fishing trip. Where that will take us, currently we don't know. But our marching orders are WILD & REMOTE.
More to follow.
Either way, I'll keep MY shirt on!
Wayne
My best to the missus! You and joe have one of the coolest friendships... It reminds me of two 10 year old boys. The competition is evident by you and he constantly telling each other how small or how few fish each other have caught. Looking forward to your next report... Bring "MoJoe!"😉
