Hi guys. Picked up a lx for a good price. Can I swop the standard side plat for the Mc plate . Or should I look at static mnagging the reel?
Cheers

Hi,

There are some instructions on 'the web' for early mag conversions to Avets, and these all direct towards 'adjustable' systems, which from a casting point of view are infinitely more versatile than 'static' systems, pure because they are adjustable.

I use a MXL MC for surf casting to distance, and apart from an initial 'tuning' of the magnet - I use the adjustability to great effect to maximise distances achieved. The fact that I have that control gives great confidence, as well as the ability to tune the reel to different condition - 'head wind' 'night' and other situations, especially like heavier baits.

I would suggest looking at an adjustable system, rather than the cheap option of static installation.

Just my opinion.

Cheers from sunny Africa,

Jeri
