I have the JX Raptor, and love it for yoyo, dropper loop, and 40/50# bait. I'm interested in getting the Penn Fathom 40NLD as a back-up/2nd set-up. Does anyone have any input on the Penn Fathom 40NLD?

I have the JX and HX Raptors and am considering adding the Fathom 40nld2 to the mix. If it's as good as my Fathom 25nld2 it should fit right in! I like the Fathom 25nld2 better than my JX 6/3 but not as much as the JX Raptor.

My experience says that the Fathom 2-speeds perform like, or exceed, Raptors but are priced like non-Raptors. All stainless gears, thrust bearing, it's all good. Well, the Fathoms don't come in blue like my 3 Raptors.

The Fathom 40nld2 is closer to the HX than the JX in capacity and splits the difference in drag capability too. All are more than capable of fishing a 50# top shot.

Since I already have the JX Raptor, I think I'm going with the Penn Fathom 40NLD2!
