Hey guys and gals.
For those of us who live around the NYC area or are willing to travel to the NYC area, who would be interested in a get together on a Saturday afternoon/early evening for a few drinks and a meal.
I was thinking something in Manhattan, so those whole live outside NYC could take the LIRR, Metro North, NJ Transit, Amtrak or a bus home without worrying about drinking too much. For those of us in NYC, we could take the subway or bus home and not worry about drinking either.
I have a few guys who would like to join the board who are excellent fisherman who I could bring down. I should probably have them join here first...
I have a few places in mind that we could eat/ drink at that would be fun and not too expensive.
How about January 9th or the 16th at say 3pm..
I would love to get together with some members, NY city is out for me. I can't drink alcohol and I am on a special diet since my surgery. maybe next time. :(
Joe
I penciled in the dates. If you get enough members together I might fly in and join you even though my arms get tired. :D Maybe we can get Sal and Dan out of Pennsylvania. Dominick
I should be able to make these dates...would be nice to meet some other forum members. I NEVER need an excuse to go to NYC.
Bob
Joe, don't worry about drinking. Pm me about your diet and we can make sure you have something to eat. If need be, I can make something for you. It is more important to just get us all together.
Dominick, Pennsylvania guys are more than welcome. Amtrak would work... we will just make them being custom drag washers....lol. definitely fly in...
wish i could. have a great time!

Wish I could take you up on your offer, but traveling to NYC is out for me. But it was very gracious of you to make me feel so welcome.
Joe
This sounds like a blast, but I don't think I'll be able to make it. Our baby is due Dec. 29th and you all know how hectic/tiring/amazing those first few weeks are. I'll catch you guys next time and Happy Holidays!
Sounds great.

Yes! And could you make in some other location....say Staten Island for instance?
Joe
Joe it is easy to say yes but there are no particulars posted. Dominick
I am willing to do something. I was thinking somewhere near Penn Station or something so everyone could easily commute without driving. I would do Staten Island if I could get a ride with someone or if it was close to the ferry as I don't have a car right now... If someone knows something close to the Staten Island Railroad that could work too.
I actually take the subway to the boats to go fishing.lol
Lets all respond to this and see what we can do. Maybe the following weekend on a Saturday afternoon????
Lets get a headcount and see what we could do.

I want to say yes but NYC is to much for me right now Ruth can drive to SI without a hassle, but me travailing on the train to Penn Station is to much. I don't want everyone going out there way to accommodate me.
Joe
I am headed up there for the day on the 13th of january (possibly on the 15th), but won't be available until after 9pm. I was maybe planning on eating afterwards and have a couple drinks before I head home. Whatever happens, I am moving up there by the end of january, so I'll be around for a while.
Sorry to be slow replying. I have lots of flexibility, and am definitely up for this.
Mike
Just saw this :( Did you guys meet?
Not yet. Who is in for something this weekend coming up? Say Saturday at 6:30 or 7. Who is around and where do we want to go?

Joe
You may want to rethink this weekend...SNOW😳😖 unfortunately I wouldn't be able to make it..I'm supposed to go shooting up state NY. Please let me know if anything else comes up.
Bob
yeah, blizzard.... Lets see what next week holds for us.
I hope sunshine! ;D
Joe
Hey,
The weather is great now and there is no more ice, snow or cold.
Lets say we get together and do something.
Dom,
I always wanted to go to Arturo's and I see that you are related.
Do they have a back room or a few tables that we could take for a few hours or so?
Capitol Fishing Tackle in NYC is getting a partyboat that is leaving from 23rd St and the East River. Maybe we could all get together and fish. For those taking Amtrak, NJ Transit, Metro North, etc. It is easily accessible by public transportation. Even with a rod and cooler.
We could always do something near Penn Station on a Saturday afternoon if that is easier.
Lets try to get this to work.
Eugene
Eugene,
May I post on your thread?
My wife and I will be in Astoria, NY from July 2 - 12, visiting our Son, his wife, our beautiful 2 1/2 year old Granddaughter, and our soon-to-be-born Grandson on or around June 23.
If any one has time or desire to go fishing, I'll buy the boat fuel, lunches and bait for the day! Can't pass this one up.
I'm somewhat trained by Dominick, I'm loud, LOVE to fish, and be with other folks who like to fish as well.
If it works, great, love to do something. Also, I'm a pizza-holic, if we can't fish, LOVE to try any of the many great pizza joints in NYC.
Thanks for letting me tag on your post.
Wayne
Wayne if your buying I fly back there just to see you spend the money. :D Dominick

Before you leave Los Cabos, please land some Tuna, I'm out, and need to refresh my freezer!!!

Mucho viento no fishing until Friday. Forecast for manana is 32 mph. I'm not going out in that mess. Also its an ice cold wind. Too cold in the shade and getting in the leeward side of the building it is nice and hot. Just vegging until the wind dies down. Dominick
This started a while back, I thought you guys met already. :-\
Unfortunately, I will be not be around the during that time. You could fish the Never Enuff out of Flushing if you want to stay close to the family.
Lets still all try to meet up even if we don't fish.
so are there any stripers, blues, or anything still being caught around manhattan, like the east river and hudson? I moved to Harlem on the west side, but haven't really had time to fish all that much, except for the central park pond for largemouth bass and pickerel. I know it's really late in the season. What about traveling to Montauk? Can I rely strictly on public transportation to fish out there using the subway or train. I never been out there, and I didn't bring my car (too much hassle). Thanks for any help.
There are tons of bass and blues off Manhattan. You can fish anywhere you have good access. The never enuff fleet is by citi field and is accessible by the 7 train and Capitol fishing tackle is getting a party boat off of 23rd St and the east river in a week or so. That you can take the subway to 23rd and take the bus right to the dock. Take a wheeled cooler and a stick and you can go. Sheepshead Bay is accessible by the Q train and additionally the B train during the week. I took the subway fishing for years.
Thanks. I checked it out. Maybe I'll go this saturday on a night trip for stripers and blues. I'll be using my little bass gear if I do. I called and the guy seemed okay with it. I couldn't find anything for a party boat on 23rd. St.
There hasn't been a party boat on 23rd St. in 30 yrs. That was the 2 Palace boats & maybe the 110' Sea Queen
Mike
Capitol Fishing Tackle in Manhattan is getting a boat there soon. A 90ft partyboat.
Your light bass gear will be torn up with a large bluefish. They have rental rods that you can use.

The boat that Capitol bought was the Capt. Lou VI. She was sold & went South 7-8 Yrs. ago. Now she will sail fro the Big City. They are on FB looking for a Capt. & crew. She is fast.

I wonder how they did yesterday. Anyone know? I think it was supposed to be their first trip out. They cancelled friday. I think I'm going to try out a striper trip this coming weekend. I went out to the Never Enuff 2-3 weeks ago and there were a lot of monster bluefish caught and one nice striper, but it was a bit far, especially when waiting for a train for 40 min late at night. The Capital Princess is only like 10 min walking distance away from my school.
They are actually at Pier 36 on the East River which is by Montgomery Street and South Street. A few block from East Broadway on the F Train.
I know they went out today but couldn't make it.
