Hi guys
Would it be ok to put monel wire on the 900h ? I currently use penn 114h mostly wahoo fishing but have 2 sealine 900h that I think are a tougher reel for the job. I would only use them maybe 6/8 weeks of the year when on holiday in the Caribbean. So I could pull the monel off the reels when not in use to stop metals reacting.
I'd say the 900 is probably as good a stock reel as there is for that; being older I'd slap in some new greased drag for 'hoo and let it rip.
I think it will gouge up an aluminum spool. Your better off with the Penn & a chrome/bronze spool.
I agree with Rowdy. I don't think the monel will react with the aluminum like stainless would but I could see it destroying the finish on the spool. The chrome over brass spools are heavier but better for that type of fishing. I think an old senator is the best bet.
Thanks for replays, I will stick with the two 114h.
