Title: Re-Anodizing Spools?
Post by: mitchman on December 21, 2015, 03:07:52 AM
A friend wants to sell me his Tiagra but the spool has a large scuff (1/4in x 2in) on it where it has lost its finish. Looks like it might be from corrosion due to not waxing the spool. Anyways, is there any way to fix this so that it doesn't corrode any further? Can you send a spool out for re-anodizing for a reasonable price? Thoughts?

I looked into getting a Tiagra refinished once. It's very expensive..... There is a place called Reel Colors. They do custom anodizing. It might be cheaper just to get a new spool. If it were me, I'd clean it, maybe put some tape on there, and load it up with backing + line.
