Title: Penn reel
Post by: Jpcnfl on December 23, 2015, 03:11:45 AM
Help  -  I just found a new unused Penn Powergraph 7000 in a deceased friends garage.  In trying to clean it up and oil it, I removed the bale and now cannot get it back together.  Anyone with any experience able to help?

I found the schematic and where you can order parts https://www.mysticparts.com/Assets/images/pennparts/schematics/pg7000.pdf (https://www.mysticparts.com/Assets/images/pennparts/schematics/pg7000.pdf)
Hard to help you as the question is phrased. If you can get more specific after seeing the schematic we might be able to help more.

Thanks Sid,  I have the schematic.  The part that will not go together is the assembly on the bale with the pivot spring, pivot shaft, and pivot arm.  Nothing fits back together correctly, leaving the bale non-operational.

It's hard to explain by writing but all of the components on the bail trip side have to be installed first with the cover back on. Then the bail arm is put on and secured with its screw. The bail trip lever fits into a hole on the backside of the bail arm.

I didn't word that correctly. On the back of the bail arm is a hole and a slot. The trip lever fits into the slot and the top part of the bail spring fits into the hole.

You install the bail arm by itself then attach the bail wire and its components.
