I have a new metal oil 12 2 speed and this is the second time I have used it and while retrieving my line it slipped up what I mean by that is it skipped gears

Braided line slipping on the spool??

As mentioned, check to see if the line is slipping on the spool.

When you had the slippage, did the handle turn backwards while doing it?

Or did the handle crank normally, then feel like it went into "neutral" and became very easy to turn until it engaged again?

I put electrical tape under the braid but I'll check plus I spooled from another reel with good tension

I had similar issue on 5ii, my handle nut was loose, if handle spun back I'd give that a look
