Title: Darn Shimano and Daiwa..!!
Post by: handi2 on December 30, 2015, 12:29:54 AM
It must be because of the holidays but I ordered 4 click gears from Shimano and received 4 drag covers. I called them to explain and order again and today I received 4 more TLD 25 drag covers. Both times the bag and label show the correct part number but wrong parts....

Today I received parts from Daiwa. AR bearings and sleeves. One bag of AR bearings had the correct part number but was full of 2 speed main gears.

I guess the pullers had their mind on the holidays.

At least you can get parts from Shimano over there (albeit the wrong ones!). Hard to get parts from Shimano Aus, won't answer Emails and the like. These days I tell my customers who hand me Shimano reels for service that if parts are required, the customer has to chase them up. I'll give them the parts no.s required from the schematic, but it's up to the customer to try and get parts from Shimano Aus. If they do not agree to this arrangement, then I won't touch their reels. I have had enough of the poor, or lack of, service from Shimano Aus, that I refuse to waste any more of my time on them.
Some of my customers have also been unfortunate enough to have the same experiences as I have, while others have been able to get what they need, but have been shocked by the cost of the replacement parts.

Must have something to do with your last name perhaps......

Sorry for your trouble Keith,
I don't have any Shimano's. I only deal with Daiwa's from Japan.
When they were made to last.

Keith, I have run into the same troubles on 2 separate occasions.  Many incorrect parts shipped in bags labeled with the correct, requested part numbers.  This has never happened to me with Scott's.  Give Shimano a call and they should correct the problem.  Ask them if they can reimburse you for your lost time and trouble while your at it.  Then again, might hurt to ask (you'll probably end up with a bag if shim washers instead of gears and covers).  To their credit, I have only had 2 bad orders out of ordering from them for close to 4 years.

Could be they have the wrong part in that bin.

It happens at Penn too..and even on the rare occasion, here at Scott's, though we of course try hard to avoid it :)

I just though it was kinda funny.

I purchased over 25K in parts in 2014 so these little mistakes aren't too bad.

When I was there last week I said I wanted a part for my Jigmaster and made a mistake but thankfully I was there to correct my self. Customers make mistakes sometimes. ;) ;D ;D

Maybe instead of thinking of this as a 'problem',
It might be better to refer to it as a whole lot of 'solutions'?

I ordered some springs from Shimano once and they sent a main gear to a reel. I had two packages get lost over this holiday season as well......
