Title: Do the Trinidad 14A reels come with carbontex drags?
Post by: Smols on December 30, 2015, 09:31:23 PM
I am looking at a used Shimano 14A (it has the white grip). Does anyone know if that reel comes with the carbontex drag from the factory? Do these reels have the same AR bearing and pawl issues as the older Trinidad reels had?

Thanks for your feedback!

They have Dartanium II drags that are a woven carbon fiber like ht-100 or Carbontex.

Thanks Mark. Do these reels have the AR bearing and reverse pawl issues that the older Trinidad reels had? Do you have the Trinidad 14A reel? Have you had any issues?

I don't have a Trinidad.  The schematic shows two dogs of the same style as before.  It doesn't show the ARB but  I think it now comes as part of the sideplate.  They're supposed to be more corrosion resistant than before.
