Title: Sea Foam as a bearing lube?
Post by: md11hog on January 04, 2016, 03:03:28 AM
I believe Sea Foam is a mixture of light oil, naphtha, and alcohol.  I cleaned my stainless steel bearings with it and noticed it left a very thin film and the bearings spun great.  I'm a freshwater guy(far less corrosion concerns) and wondered what would be wrong with just leaving them as is after cleaning them with Sea Foam?

Sea Foam is a detergent acting formula in gasoline I think would break down to soon to be a lubricant for any extended length of time. Try 321 as a lubricant for bearings.

For freshwater application it would probably be OK lots of freshwater guys use minimal to no lube on reel bearings.
