Title: One Jiggy down....
Post by: thorhammer on January 14, 2016, 12:04:39 AM
One done. Pleasantly surprised when I opened up a 50 yo donor because I wanted the oiler port eccentric lever donor to find steel guts...

If you look closely, the bridge says "Sal, need delrin!" lol. I'm not kidding. :)

Last thing is Adam's drag star.

Three down. Note "Patent applied for" SS knurled cast control knob on tail plate bushing. i've only seen one, ever. This one came off my Sailfisher, which I wasn't about to cast.

Is the cast control magnetic?

Nossir, just a tensioning control knob for a bushing similar to Tom's new knurled bearing controls. Works fine tho.

Is that cast control knob one that is intended to be used with different viscosity oils, depending on how much resistance is wanted?  I think I saw something like that before but can't remember where.

I don't think the bridge is stainless steel.
When I did my Jigmaster I commented that I thought the bridge was stainless steel. Without a picture Sal said it's not SS, it's chrome plated. Based on that, and my trust in Sal's opinion, I'm going to agree with Alan that it is not SS, but chrome plated. I'd put money on it.... but not my money, Sal's  ;D ;D ;D

Hmm... maybe the lighting? To me the plates look silvery gold... a bit like vermeil. But either way, it's a knockout!   :)

Sid, I know enough to know it's not brass, and hoping Sal can read my writing on the bridgeplate whatever it be!!

I expect you could do that. I haven't chunked it yet but I was able to adjust it as-is (meaning it has Hot Sauce in it) to get as much free spool as possible.

Thank you. I thought the green would be my favorite but I'm really liking this one. Plan to spool with blue Momoi.
