Sal,
Get that firewood stacked up Buddy. This one looks like a doozy!
All you guys out that way, be safe.
Joe, Mike, Bob, Dan, Dom. You guys are looking at a foot of the white stuff minimum. :o
Yeah, it could be more :-\. I was scheduled to start my next project, this crap is going to mess me up really good.
We've been having temperature above 60 and I been working inside for the past 2 months. Now that I have a project outdoors, we get this crap...oh well.
The weather has been crazy lately.
I said I wasn't going to put up any Christmas lights this year.
Two weeks before the 25th, I was out there in flip flops and shorts in 60 degree plus temps.
It has been really cold here lately, Single digits some nights.
I just know this storm has a lot of power, I am just going to get a little clip of it, but on your side, it doesn't look good.
Sorry it is putting a damper on your project, but you can't mess with mother nature.
Be safe,
Daron
Yup, being in construction for 40+ years, I've learned that mother nature is the boss and most of us don't forget it.
I have enough reels to service that will keep me going for a few days ;).
May stay mostly south of us here...Sal, you guys look like your in the crosshairs this time..no worries got plenty of beer in the fridge.
Bob
I was wishing we were going to have a mild winter ::) Notice I sad WISHING! :( I have a friend coming over today to put the plow on the JD rider to prepare for this upcoming storm. I like Sal had a working career in construction for some 25 years outside and for the other 30 years was coped up in a office. I got soft >:( I cant wait to move to a warmer climate were there is little or no snow. ;D
Joe
Anyone that can get a flight to West Palm Beach or Ft. Lauderdale is welcome to stay with us for a few days to let this pass.... :) It's going to reach 70 today and rain tomorrow, then 5 days of good weather. I don't miss the snow at all.

Thanks Sid. The snow plow is on and the chains so I'm ready, for what that's is worth. They are predicting 10"-18" for our area. If that holds up we are in for a mess.
Joe
It looks like most of you guys have the option of staying inside. Poor Broadway Dom has to keep the parking lot clear. I'm thinking aboucha Dom stay warm and dry. Dominick
I got to see snow last Sunday for the first time in 39 years. Now I get to see a blizzard too. After this storm I can go home to Florida with fresh memories of what I've been missing.
I just got a Blizzard watch warning on my phone... ::) I'm not a snow guy...stay safe all, I'll drink some Blanton's and think of you 8)
I lived in Alaska for three years. A little bit of snow doesn't bother me.
So far so good up here.Over 9 feet last year, looks like this one will miss us in new england.

Yeah...you guys got an #### beatin last year...all of us in the NE are getting off easy this year. This is the first real snowstorm so far.
Bob
worst part of the storm might be tornadoes in the south...
steve
Good luck to those of us on the east coast! Looks like where I live, Long Island, will get 'lucky with 8"-12" of snow' at least compared to the 2+ feet possible around the DC area.
Stay safe everyone!
It started snowing around 7:00 PM >:( There is already 1" on the ground. Looks like I don't get any sleep tonight ::) >:(.
Joe
just stay safe!!!!!

Kinda funny how all the Federal Govt. Agencies schedule their mandatory supervisor trainings for next week. It's the same week every year, and it seems like every year there is a snow storm on or leading up to the same week. I call it payback week... the bosses all have to deal with traveling in adverse conditions. Sucks to be a boss in the federal govt this weekend :)
Bought a FinNor lethal 100 yesterday and it's at the Nashua, NH USPS.
Probably a delay? Oh well.
Stay safe everybody.
Steve
Neither rain nor sleet or dark of night............. BULL
This morning 7:30 AM about 10" on the ground Expecting 24"
Joe
Stay inside Joe. I don't know how you guys do it.
Being in Kentucky close to the Ohio River. We avoid most winter and summer storms because of our location related the jet stream.
I only got a dusting from this Goliath. It is a bad storm.
Be safe my friend.
We got 13" and counting, we're expected to get 24"+.
I'm worried about the guys by the coast, wind gusts up to 65Mph, the full moon isn't helping.
Here is a shot from Nasa:

It's a monster and it means business...be safe.
Sal
The media hypes the weather I am 15 miles inland, it's windy yes but not what they are saying. Mansquan is not that bad as they say. The snow on the other hand is getting worse in this area..maybe will have 24" when it's all over. I'm not going out until tomorrow morning to plow. It's no emergency for me
and I don't want it that way.
Joe
This is 10:00 AM snow has slacked off. Aprox. 12"
Joe
looks like a christmas card!
On the Radio they are saying up to 26" in NYC. This should be fun. At least the kids are happy.
Wind gusts are actually helping, roofs and trees are clean...good thing:

We were only originally only gonna get 2-6 inches...well we got over a foot now and it's still coming down at a good clip. Good thing I made sure the snow blower started yesterday..😳👍🏻😜
Bob
Sal: Your dog is looking you as if to "let me in,let me in". It's still snowing! :(
Joe
When they re-open the LIE, I'm bolting straight down to Florida! Any of you northeast guys with me?
We are probably in the 16"+ range now...and still coming down heavily. It's been fun playing with Leah outside though, her eyes lit up this morning as we showed her all the snow. :o
just checked in with mo at mysticparts.com the power is out but they still have the kerosene heater and they should be past high tide and are still dry. guys, stay safe!

We're getting nothing but rain and my project is trying to do earthwork and underground utilities. Been almost a month and we've managed only 4 days work. Looking like a long wet winter with little to do.
Old Inlet Bait and Tackle had shown a photo on FB, looks like they have some water through the doors. Lots of posts on FB of boats floating down streets still attached to the trailers in NJ...scary stuff. Wife has a friend in Brigantine and the water is about to come through the front door. My folks are in Lewes safe and sound, but some of the photos are downright scary; there is a lot of water moving through the coastal towns. Our prayers will all those affected in a negative way... :-\
It's still snowing here and the bottom rail of the fence in this picture is covered. That's about 16" of snow or more.

Gov. Christie stated on the news " no major flooding is S. Jersey "
Here are a couple of pics some friends have been posting, these are from Wildwood Police Department:

I'm not posting what they're saying about him ;D.
Damn! That is horrible. The people along the shore have gotten it up the yang. We have a friend that lives in Lavalette two blocks off the ocean, and the back yard is on the Lagoon. I know she is at her daughters home inland.
Joe
That's unfortunate. I visit the Wildwood and Cape May area a lot. The doom and gloom by the media seemed silly at the time, but I live about an hour inland, so it's not that bad where I'm at. I'm a little surprised the only places that are open are Wawas, but somebody has gotta fuel the plow trucks.
Still snowing heavily. I don't that I will be able to push the snow tomorrow morning. I was not going out today with the wind and heavy snow....my mistake. :-[ :(
Joe
You all stay warm, stay inside and stay safe! We're praying for all of you.
Ron
Indeed, stay warm and safe. Back when I lived where it snows, I'd shovel every 4" or so. Waiting until it's over could be tough. I was in Tahoe with my wife, who was a native Southern Californian, and was shoveling snow while it was still coming down and she didn't get it. I told her that it was easier to shovel 4" 3 times than 1' once. I was born in St Louis and have lived in Chicago, Cincinnati, Denver and Hartford amoung others where they had 'real' winter weather. OTOH, I've now been in Southern California for nearly 40 years so I'm really over winter weather. I do have a condo up by Lake Arrowhead which is above 5,000' so I've had to shovel snow here too! I did live up by Alan in Sunnyvale and snow was something you only see on TV. At least down here in SoCal we can look up and see it on the San Gabriel and San Bernardino mountains to the east... On a good cold spell I can look up and see snow on Saddleback in the Santa Ana's too.
Joe & Ruth --
Forget about the snow -- it is not worth the trouble clearing it off yourself.
You are going through a recovery after a major surgery -- and if needed, you can hire someone to clear it when it is done snowing.
If I was closer, I would do it for you -- don't make me come out there...
The bench is enough for now -- listen to Ruth.
Best,
Fred

Fred: Thank you as always for your thoughtfulness. I'm snowed in with close to 3' of snow, I am not doing a thing,it is to much to handle and Ruth said NO WAY! :o And when Ruth specks I listen. ;D ;D
A few pictures this morning.
Joe
Good advice from Ruth and Fred, Joe...the snow can wait. I snuck out this morning at 4:00 and still got caught, my wife almost killed me.
Nice contraption you got there, Joe, could you fire up some pizza with it?
Here is a shot of the front of the house after shoveling for 2 hours, still have a while to go.

I feel as if we dodged the bullet up here in NW jersey. We had about 20" which would put this storm in the middle of snowfall amounts for us. Snow thrower and two hours...driveway and walkway cleared..NP. I hope that's it for the season...yeah...right..lol

Joe
Thoughts are with you guys, stay warm and safe.
Mike.
Hi guys,
Our thoughts are with you, all the pictures just serve to remind me why I moved to Namibia - we only get 2" of rain every year, where we stay on the edge of the desert.
So, for any that want to escape, you will have to wait until they re-open your airports and come down here - a balmy 80 degrees at the moment, not a cloud in the sky, and no chance of rain or snow for at least 10 months.
Just drop us a line, and you can stay with us on the edge of the desert without fear of getting any snow. That said, they might ask you to bring some of the snow with you, as the country is having a bit of a drought being an El Nino year.
Cheers from sunny AFrica,
Jeri
