Title: Drag Washer Material
Post by: RTT on January 23, 2016, 02:47:45 AM
I brought an old Squidder in really good shape.  When I opened it up I was expecting old leather washer, however I found these.  Does anyone know what they are??

Thank you
Ray

maybe old smoothies.  20 years ago, there was search to find a better material, not knowing that carbon fiber was already the best.  they just needed grease.

Yeah, they look like old smoothies.  They were some kind of gasket material. Carbontex or ht-100's are much better.

Dry smoothies meant to be run dry, I still have a few.

They actually did ok for awhile until getting contaminated with oil/grease.

Then the drag would alternate between sticking and slipping.

Or saltwater would get in and nicely corrosion weld everything into a one-piece drag washer.
