What are my option of getting rid of the level wind without impacting the structure of the reel or exposing it to sand and water?..My reel is now apart..Thanks

honestly, i would sell this one and get a left handed reel, maybe an avet.  you will be money ahead.  otherwise, just remove the line guide and leave the worm and cover.  you can likely remove the idler gear on the left side to disengage the spool from the worm and improve freespool.

Thanks, I own the Avet SX, right hand..I can use both hands equally, however I am in love with the Calcutta..Emotionally attached to it..

If you remove the level wind you will need to replace it with a support brace. The Calcutta is not a good reel for this. You will have to make all the parts needed for the conversion. You better off using another reel you will save money and be happier in the end.
