Title: Penn 12/0 Question - Drag
Post by: wsenti on February 28, 2016, 09:57:19 PM
I recently took apart for maintenance my Penn 12/0 (with Aluminum spool), purchased around 2006.

I am assembling and have noticed discussion of placing a fiber washer behind the main gear and in front of the bridge with sleeve.

What I am trying to figure out is if my model hasn't come with it or I may be missing it.

I have 7 carbon fiber drag washers and 7 metal drag washers.

Any thoughts or input?

Thanks,
Wade

You should at minimum, have an undergear washer.
It should be Red and made of hard fiber.

Wade, you mean on top of the sleeve between it and the main gear, not under the sleeve, right? I think Delrin has been shown to be the superior material here - it needs to function as a thrust bearing in this location.
