Just pulled this down to do bearings .
Found 5 bearings .
No infinite anti rev
Anti rev is via a single dog on the clicker side of the reel .
Absolutely no markings of any sort anywhere .
Anyone got any clues ?

I would say it is likely a Chinese-built knockoff. It don'the bdlieve it is a JM, Canyon/Release, AjKing, Black Marlin, RedPig, Okiaya, or Omato.

A look inside the headplate may provide clues?
Yeh clearly could be chinbilt .
It doesnt really matter , I just found it interesting that there is not a single identifying mark in ut , inside or out , nothing. Usually the Chinese are not shy about letting you know where where it was made .
It seems very well made , solid and machined to pretty good tollerances , the owner loves it hense the recon job . Basically the bearings are all water damaged (I think by the owner flooding it with water to wash it after a trip) but everthing else internally is fine .

Need a bit of advice with this (if anyone is prepared to go out on a limb :P )
When I first got this reel in it was completely seized thanks to rust in all the bearings . Replaced all bearings and a couple of springs on the dog and the reel has come back to life (after a fashion).
Having a bit of hassle with the drag . It gets freespool , after a fashion , the problem is tho as I ramp the preset up and push the drag lever up to strike the drag applies but the handle becomes progressively harder to turn to a point where it is completly locked at full drag .
Any tips would be greatly appreciated .

Sounds like the pinion bearing is no good and needs to be replaced. Likely do not exceed 12# of drag at strike.

Have you measured the drag your applying? It could be just too much! When you disassembled the reel did you take photos at each stage. Even that might not help if it was assembled incorrectly by someone else :-\ A schematic would be a godsend ::)
It's easy to damage the pinion bearing. I ramp up the drags slowly when setting and testing the reels. I have held many new reels handled by customers where the pinions bearings are bad because customers ramp up the drags without even knowing the drag setting and slide the lever to strike immediately killing the pinion bearing. Try replacing the pinion bearing and start with a loose setting and push the lever to engage the drag and crank. Gradually increase and repeat. Repeat this process until you feel start feeling binding on the bearing and that will be your absolute maximum.

A schematic would be gold , cant id it thought , cant even find a pic of spmething similar.

Cheers Bryan , I'll follow your procedure tomorrow and see what happens. I can see what you mean about it being easy to damage the pinion bearing as the pinion pushes on the centre race and the preset pushes on the outer .
