Title: Penn Intl II 50 tw
Post by: Frank s on March 06, 2016, 01:45:40 AM
I have the opportunity to purchase 4 Penn Intl 50tw's along with 4 custom poles, all with Aftco roller guides and Pac Bay aluminum butts for $425 each. They are in great shape. They are however single speed reels. is this a good deal or should I just go and get the Avet 30 wides I was originally going to get? I have been mostly inshore fishing and use only Avets.  I now plan on venturing out offshore for Tuna and came across these Penn's.

I'm in Fla, and around here a 50tw on a rod for 425 really isn't a bad deal. Maybe you can snag it for 400 even

IMO opinion 50TW's sell for about 300 each, depending on scratches. You'll probably have to service them ,and replace the drags, but they should be well worth it. I would say for everything but the most stubborn big eyes and swords, one sppeds will be fine. Also they weigh less and are norrower then 2 speed 50's.

As to the rods, seeing you are paying 100-125 per rod, that's fair. It all depends if you like them.
