Title: Older avet sx ???????
Post by: Cowbass on February 18, 2011, 11:23:33 PM
Hey all, I have an avet sx older model. Is there anything I can do to stop the clicking noise when reeling? Anyone done this? Thanks.

Nope. The clicking sound is the anti-reverse dog. Heavier grease might quit it a little but not for long. Avet chose not to use anti-reverse bearings because they are prone to failure and hasn't figured out how to make silent dogs like Okuma, although their new models are a little quieter than the old ones. But that's a good 20# reel despite the noise.

I posted this for a friend. My newer sx makes no noise. Don't know what's up with that!

different anti-reverse system.  you would have to get a new side plate to upgrade.  alan
