Title: 300 CTE
Post by: jimfishes2 on April 08, 2016, 12:49:30 AM
I have a 300 CTE the clutch engages when casting, or just bump the reel. History......no oversize handle, replaced all plastic parts and springs, cleaned and greased all. The drive shaft seams sloppy and I replaced the brg and shims with no change. Now what???  ??? Thanks for any ideas.

A common problem with these reels is that the user engages the handle in the middle of a cast, which applies high forces on the clutch pawl. The anti-reverse ratchet wears a groove into the clutch pawl. Have a look to see if your clutch pawl may have excessive wear, and replace it.

Cheers,

Terry.

Yep, definite wear on clutch pawl. I will replace it and see what happens. Thanks, I'll let you know how it turns out.
