Can anyone give me some tips on removing this inner ring off the right sideplate of the 500? It looks like it's riveted on to me.
It does not come off, King --
No need -- just clean up the plate and ring together.
Best,
Fred
I thought that was probably the case. Late night tinkering strikes again! Thanks for the feed back.
Ryan
Yeah, L2F --
If you take the ring off -- there is no way to reinstall it properly -- just need a new sideplate at that point.
Good luck & post some pics when you are done.
Or if you run into any issues -- there are plenty of helpful experts on here.
You also will be one of them soon.
Best,
Fred
Yeah, you guys are a wealth of knowledge. I've spent a few hours searching and reading on various reels. Wish I would have found this sight long ago! Right now I'm tinkering with this jiggmaster. Opened it up last night to see what was going on in there. The eccentric was upside down so the free spool lever wasn't working how it should...got that fixed. So that tells me someone at least tried to service it.
It has carbon fiber and stainless drag washers already. Also looks like it has a stainless steel bridge and pinion gear. I'd like to upgrade the rest of it eventually.
Ryan
The bridge is chrome plated brass.

Yeah, don't feel bad. I made the same mistake, Sal corrected me when I made it.

Regardless of the fact , like Live2fish, I prefer the shiny bridge.
Live2 I may have a stock steel gear somewhere for you. A first upgrade for me on every one of my Jigmasters. Although I have never had one fail even in stock form
Welcome to the forum.
I'm still on the curve. Thanks for pointing that out. I thought it was odd that the bridge would have been upgraded before the main gear. Thanks

Welcome to the forum.
Ive never had a gear fail yet either. Only problems I've really had with my reels have been drag related. Id be interested in the steel gear.
Thanks guys
Ryan
Some will say the steel gears don't feel as smooth, but my fingers aren't sensitive enough to tell. I just like the idea of tough equipment.
Ryan, send me a private message with your address and I'll send it out. Just a plain old black steel gear.
