Title: Tekota 300
Post by: Fishnmike on May 30, 2016, 05:58:51 PM
Have a Tekota 300 that will sometimes pile line up in the right side of the spool and the reel binds up a but. Think it's the worm gear pall or the lawyer gear?

Inspect them and replace.  I would replace both.

Yea, it is almost certainly the worm and the pawl; both should be replaced. The "lawyer" gears -- there are two idler gears in that reel -- are probably good; otherwise you'd hear a clicking as the line guide traveled along the worm. But do examine them closely when you remove the left side plate to replace the worm.

Thanks guys. Took it apart, looks like I'm missing the spacer that goes under the pawl cap. This allows the pawl to disengage from the worm gear at the ends. Ordered new parts.
