Hi Guys,
Picking some Braaaiiinnnssss! (does zombie impression)
Has anyone seen this custom bearing on a squidder before and if so, is there any info on the purpose of it?

I have a customer asking about his reel and I've never seen this doodad before!
The end of the bearing just reads "PAT Applied For"
I forget what its proper name is but it's an oil filled anti-backlash device. It is mentioned several times on this site but I don't remember where.

Awesome! Thanks, I was hoping someone would know which direction to look in. Wasn't finding it myself.
Please let us know if that thing works? I'm sure with all the talent here we could make it work better.

Wow Mo, that is 1940/41 era reel and appears to be all original except that bearing cup.........a very rare find that clean from that era....rarer than hens teeth. You should tell the owner to hang onto that sweet little piece of penn history and make a place for it on his fireplace mantle. . Very cool !!
The added on bearing cup was made for casting control and does not devalue the reel and it should function just fine.
