Title: Penn 100 upgrades
Post by: Pappy on June 04, 2016, 02:30:39 PM
Anybody know of any upgrades for the old Penn 100? Back in the day I used that reel for everything if I had enough line capacity for the fish I was targeting.  I would definitely like to upgrade my reels with stainless steel parts and possibly better drags.  I'd appreciate any information or advice.

The 100 is a tough little reel.

SS gearsleeve and AR dogs, Carbontex drag washers or Bryan's 5+1 drag upgrade, aluminum spool (if you can find one), handle arms, Newell spacer bars or aluminum frame.

You just spent Pappy's SS Check for the month.

If you might be interested in a Tiburon frame, Newell spool, or complete Newell kit, please let me know.

Thanks,

Randy

Alan Tani has the gear sleeve, I might have some 15-200 dogs still and will look.

Pappy, right now I have the Tiburon frames for your 100 in stock in silver and green.  Please take a look at the photos below and let me know if one of them might work for you.  If so, I can ship on Monday.  They are $65 including shipping to anywhere in the USA, and I accept Paypal or most credit cards.  If neither of those colors tickles your fancy, I can find out what other colors Tiburon has in stock.  The price would be the same but there would be a ten day delay in shipping as I am not going to pick up at Tiburon until 6/14.

I am sorry to say that I do not handle any of the trick internal parts (except for made in the USA Newell and Accurate gears for Jigmasters, 112H and 113H Senators), but you can find a great selection of quality components on this website.

Thank you for giving me a shot at your business,

Randy

Considering what we have available today, you'll be better off with a Jigmaster, instead of a 112H.
Unless you do as Bob ( Cone ) did and customized one of the Jigmaster's bridge to fit his 112h... not an easy job.
Eventually all needed custom parts for the 112h should come available, but will take a while.
As of now the only custom ss inner parts available for the 112H are gears and gear sleeve.

That's great Pappy.  My Paypal email address is rfpauly@aol.com.  You can just send the $65 through your Paypal account, of if you prefer, I can send you a Paypal invoice.

For the 112H, I have a new silver Tiburon topless frame with Tiburon rod clamp kit for $74 delivered if we ship it with your 100 frame.  I have the same thing that is used but near mint for $60, and near mint, tested true used Penn aluminum spools for those frames for $25 delivererd if you do not already have an aluminum spool.

I also have complete Newell kits (spool, bars, base and rod clamp kit) in standard (2 1/8"), wide (2 7/16") and extra wide (2 3/4").  I have an Accurate wide gold Accuframe with matching gold spool, and a gold Accurate standard width frame with rod clamp kit.  Finally, I have a beautiful topless red Tiburon extra-wide frame and spool kit, but it's a little bit pricey.

I have tons of frame, spool and gear upgrades for the Jigmaster in all widths if you decide to go in that direction too.

Does any of the above sound good?

Thanks,

Randy
