Title: Penn 112H upgrade
Post by: Pappy on June 12, 2016, 07:13:27 PM
Hey guys, I recently purchased all the parts to upgrade my Penn 112H. I put the 5 drag stack in, new stainless steel gear sleeve, and dog. I've tested the reel and it doesn't seem to get anymore drag than what it did before the upgrade.  The only thing I didn't change is the sleeve spacer under the star. Is the Stainless steel one different in size than the original ?

Hey Pappy,

Look at the grooves inside the main gear where the eared washers install. The grooves don't go all the way down. You may need a thicker Carbontex washer to go in first to fill the gap and insure that the drag washers all compress. I'm sure there is a thicker one in the kit.
