I have a Lews Childre BB-19GS that a Young Man brought to me that was his Late Fathers. It was really in Bad Shape. I worked and worked and brouht it back to life. However Im not sure that all the parts are under the Tension Cap. This reel turned out Awesome. I believe all the Dirt actually protected the finish. A have tried to find a Schematic on line but all I find are schematics for the BB1. I would like to return this reel so he could use it. I have already rebuilt a Shimano Curado 100 for him and he was Proud of it. So let me know if anyone has a Schematic or Knowledge of these reels. I sure would appreciate it.
crud, these are the only ones i could fine.....

Great reels!
Been alot of years since I worked on my grandfather's. Schematic is attached..
This is the original Shimano-made model.

The convex tension spring is attached to the thick brass bushing. Also, there is an ABU-style square shim (wear plate) tucked inside the cast control knob.
I have a Ryobi-made example that is the same model as yours but it too is missing the cast control knob, spacer and tension spring. I wonder if the tension spring did not provide enough tension and having the cast control knob fall off was a common problem? If it would help, I can mic and count the male threads where the cast control knob should be. It will be tough to find a replacement though.

I appreciate the reply's. But for some reason I believe that the BB1 and this BB-19GS is different. Wouldnt you know I would get a reel that I could not find a Schematic for.
Sorry Black Label but the other one I have is BB-1NG, not BB-19GS.

I'm pretty sure the cast control knob on this one is not correct because it is flimsy plastic and threaded in the wrong place.
You may need to contact Ryobi to find a schematic. These were made by Ryobi when Childre was still alive and before Browning and then Zebco bought the Lews name.
Is there a wire clip securing the bearing in place? If so, you might have everything you need. Have you tried casting it as is?

Hope this works for you or message me and I will email you.
There is no spring in the cast control. Tension for the cap is by the O-ring.
Cheers,
Terry
