Just finished another one up for Broadway. Its a purple/green laminate that has been scaled down for Kim's 4/0.
Didn't have a 4/0 to display it on so here it is on Tom's awesome plated JM. Adams star and handle round it out and are big sellers here at the shop. Did have a few problems with this laminate but was able to work it all out.
Howdaya like the color?
Regards and a great evening to all, .. Lou
Very nice Lou.
As my teenagers would say "That's Sic"....they claim its a compliment of the highest regards....the jury is still out on the statement, but that handle sure looks good.....Bill
Thats the prettiest one yet. :) great work. Nice++ ::)
Lou, you have come a long ways since you first started on this custom knob venture and I must say you are truly the master of your domain. You definitely hit one outta the ball park on this knob. I'll be ordering some as soon as I get outta the poor house. LOL
Ted
See I am one of those sick individuals that says " Spool it up and let's go fishing!"
Beautiful work Lou , and Dom as well.....
Best

Lou, You've outdone yourself on this one. Every knob is treated like a diamond cutter would a diamond. He figures out the best part of the acrylic stock material he's working with and gives you just that. Lou is creating 3 knobs for me and my wife, obviously 2 for her and one for me as it should be. The T-bar shown will be on Kim's green CC plates, purple tib spool, and green tib frame, of course adorned with Daiwa boat braid for the color palette in it. Yep, I'm going all out on these. The handle grasp alone makes it a winner but when you add all BP internals, Tom's plates, Tib frame and spool, Adam's Titanium counter balanced handle and the Salitga boat braid it's gonna be the bees knees and should last until Jack's kids wanna go fishing.
Thanks to Lou for this one of a kind, happy wife making, eye catching, almost too beautiful to fish knob he has so patiently created for us. Also, can't wait for the other 2. 8)
I would not hesitate to get more and certainly will if Lou has the time. You will never find these any where else and to know you're getting the best is worth every penny.
Thanks
Dom

I have been in Lou's shop last week. I can say with no doubt that the work that goes into the handles that Lou makes is incredible. Also Lou is a great guy and it was a pleasure to meet him and his beautiful wife Gracie.
Ruth and I spent two days in CT and Lou and Gracie were wonderful hosts, Lou even drove us around to see the sites and even fulfilled Ruth craving for a lobster roll. We went for pizza one afternoon and it was the best with the most sausage Ive ever seen on a pizza. To top it off Lou's Bolognese was great Friday night.
Lou & Gracie are great people and Ruth and I are so happy we met them. Thank You Lou and Gracie!!
Joe&Ruth
I will definitely post up when she's built and ready to fish. I owe you guys a bunch of photos and when the boast goes away I'll put them all over the place. ;D
Thanks Lou!
That must've been a cool experience for both you and Lou. I always like meeting solid AT members.
Thanks Ted and Mo. I think Kim's gonna be really happy with this piece.
Stay fishy,
Dom
awesome knob.
Lou, can I ask how much are these knob bein sold?
or its a special gift to Dom?
Depends on the style and size and material. If you have a specific reel in mind you can PM me with the info. Basically they are custom made to order.
Thanks, .. Lou
Steelfish,
Just to have Lou take the time to do 3 knobs for me is a gift. I haven't asked Lou the price because I'm getting them whatever they cost. It's not like he's gonna charge me $300 or anything, right Lou? ;D
Seriously, you'll see what I mean once he takes on the job... they are surprisingly more custom than I ever thought a grasp would be.
These won't be around forever even though Lou will be,
Dom
Joe & Ruth, it was our pleasure and we enjoyed meeting you both! The weather was absolutely perfect.
Although the AT sites primary focus is reel repair it does bring a comradery that might not otherwise be available to us.
Dom, thanks again for the kind words. A lot of effort goes into the Tbars. 10 to 12 hrs each is the usual norm and if its a special design, it can be even longer. Getting the persons frame and glove size give us the idea of what size the knob should be. If we have a large enough blank, sometimes we can orient the cut to pick out the best pattern.
Many times before mounting the shaft, I will take several different pictures, send them to the customer and let them decide as to which side they want showing out.
Conventional machining can be time consuming and at times a bit frustrating to make a perfect part, but, when all is said and done and the finished product is mounted on the reel it makes it all worth while.
All the comments are appreciated and at the moment I have orders for about 40T's and knobs and they're still coming! Looks like its going to be a busy winter.
A great day to all, regards, .. Lou
Lou, as incredible as the shipped pieces are, I would bet the rejects are still beautiful....kind of like Picasso's doodles are :D Bill
